How to unlock disabled iPhone without computer

Don't currently have a computer handy? No problem, you can unlock your iPhone even without it. How? I'll explain it to you right away. The simplest way to succeed unlock a disabled iPhone without a computer involves the use of iCloud and, precisely, of functionality Where is it by Apple, accessible from any browser for smartphones and tablets (but also for PCs).

If I had never heard of it, “Dov'è” is an anti-theft solution integrated on all the devices produced by the big Cupertino, which allows you to carry out emergency operations on stolen or lost devices, including remote restoration of the same.

Clearly, in order to remove the block using this possibility, it is essential that the anti-theft device has been previously enabled on the device: do not worry, this condition should always be checked, unless you have manually deactivated this function.

Furthermore, in order for everything to proceed smoothly, it is essential that the iPhone to be unlocked is switched on and connected to the Internet (via the cellular data network or a Wi-Fi network, it does not matter). Also keep in mind that, as I have already explained to you in the opening bars of this tutorial, the unlocking and restoring operation involves the complete loss of data on the iPhone, unless a backup of the same has been made on iCloud or on your computer.

Having made this necessary clarification, it is time to take action. Using any browser for smartphone, tablet or computer (e.g. Google Chrome or Safari), connected to the iCloud website, enter the username and Password of your Apple ID in the appropriate fields and, when you are ready, tap the button in the shape of arrow per effettuare l'accesso.

If prompted, finalize the login process by performing two-factor authentication, indicate the language and time zone to use (this question is only asked at the first login) and choose whether or not to authorize the browser for future accesses.

If everything went smoothly, after a few moments, the iCloud "console" should be offered to you: when this happens, tap the button Find iPhone and wait for the display to show the list of devices paired with the Apple ID and a map, on which they should be located.

Now, tap the iPhone name on which you are interested in acting, touch the button Initialize the iPhone (the one with the basket) and finally tap on the button Continue, to start the reset of the phone, well aware that the operation will result in the complete loss of the data in the memory.

If you have an iOS or iPadOS device, you can also perform the same procedure via the app Where is it, present "standard" on all iPhones and iPads, by accessing the card devices, present in the lower center.

In any case, once the reset is complete, the iPhone will exit from the "disabled" state and will restart automatically: now you just have to proceed with its initial configuration, taking care to enter, when requested, the password of thePreviously associated Apple ID on the phone (this is a feature of "Find My iPhone" security).

Once this is done, you can choose whether to configure the device as a new iPhone or whether to restore data, settings and apps from a previous backup: I have explained everything to you, in detail, in my tutorial on how to configure iPhone.

How to unlock disabled iPhone with iTunes

If you have a PC with a Windows operating system, or a Mac equipped with a version of macOS prior to 10.15 (Catalina), you can easily unlock disabled iPhone with iTunes, the well-known multimedia software from Apple that also allows you to manage iOS / iPadOS devices from a PC.

For everything to go smoothly, it is essential that the iPhone has been connected at least once from the PC on which you intend to act, and that the appropriate permissions have been granted for data synchronization and memory access. Otherwise, you will not be able to proceed with the restore using iTunes and you will have to use one of the alternative methods proposed in this guide.

All clear? All right, then let's get started. To begin with, turn off the iPhone completely and set it to recovery mode, following the instructions I give you below (to do with your phone connected to your computer and iTunes running).

    • iPhone 8 and later: Turn off the iPhone completely, press and hold the side button (the power one), wait for the cable icon with the PC / iTunes logo to appear on the screen and, when this happens, release the side button. If you can't turn off the iPhone, press and quickly release the button Volume up; press and quickly release the button Volume down and hold the side button (the ignition one).
    • iPhone 7 7 Plus: hold the top or side button (the power button) and the key Volume downuntil the recovery mode screen appears.
    • iPhone 6s and earlier: the steps to take are the same as seen for iPhone 7/7 Plus, but you must use the Home button instead of that Volume down.

Once you have set the phone in recovery mode, iTunes should notify you of the presence of a new device, proposing you to perform some restore operations: aware that the next operation will delete all data from the memory, click on the buttons RestoreReset / Restore and Update and, if necessary, on Following Accept, in order to start the iPhone recovery procedure.

At this point, iTunes will download the latest version of iOS available for the device, overwriting it with the existing one. After a few minutes (the duration of the process depends on the speed of your Internet connection) a message will appear warning you that iPhone has been reset to the factory state.

In the meantime, the phone will be restarted automatically, offering you the welcome screen, which will allow you to proceed with the initial configuration: also in this case, you will have to indicate, when requested, the Apple ID and the password of the account previously configured on the device. , in order to prove to be the legitimate owner.

How to unlock disabled iPhone without iTunes

Do you urgently need to unlock your iPhone but can't (or don't want to) use iTunes? No problem: there are, in fact, alternative solutions that allow you to obtain the result you are looking for, which I am going to tell you about in the following paragraphs of this guide. Remember that, even in this case, the unlock / reset operation leads to the total loss of data saved on the iPhone: therefore, unless you have made a recent backup of the device, you will lose everything.

    MacOS Finder

If you have a version of macOS equal to or later than 10.15 (Catalina), you can easily unlock the iPhone using the Finder (which since this release of the Apple operating system has taken the place of iTunes). Also in this case, as reiterated several times throughout this guide, the procedure involves the complete cancellation of all the data on the phone.

In any case, before proceeding, set the iPhone in recovery mode, as explained in the previous step of the tutorial. If, for some reason, you are unable to put the iPhone in recovery mode, you can also boot it into DFU mode, following the instructions I gave you in this guide. After enabling this mode, connect your phone to the Mac.

At this point, open the Finder macOS (the cartoon smiling attached to the Dock bar), locate the tile Positions e clicca sull'icona dell 'iPhone: If everything went well, a message should alert you to a problem with the phone.

Now, to proceed with the restore, click on the buttons Restore e Restore / Update and wait for the phone reset to complete. If prompted, press the buttons Following e Accept to accept the iOS user license (in case of upgrading to a later version of the system).

When the reset is complete, the iPhone should restart and immediately offer you the first configuration procedure: as a security measure, before you can go on, you will be asked to enter the Apple ID and password of the previously configured account .

    Apple support

If you see the Activation Lock screen on your iPhone, one way to remove the activation lock is to contact the Apple support. Of course, in order to do this, you must be the owner of the device, you must take into account that the data on the iPhone will be deleted lost, the device must not be of a corporate type and, moreover, it must not be set in Lost Mode.

If the iPhone in your possession meets the conditions just mentioned and you are indeed willing to proceed, go to this page of the Apple website, click on the link Start now, placed under the heading Still need help?, accept the conditions of use and the privacy policy by ticking the relevant box and clicking on the button Continue.

Now, provide in the form provided email addressserial number, IMEIMEID of the iPhone to remove the activation lock (in this other guide I explained where to find the info in question, type in the appropriate field characters you see in the image and then click the button Continue.

Now, click on link that was sent to the email address you indicated, click on the button Continue present in the new page that has opened, follow the instructions you see on the screen, (essentially you will have to indicate your contact details and those regarding the purchase of your iPhone), click again on the button Continue (twice) and wait for an Apple Support consultant to get back to you.

    Wondershare dr.fone

If the previous solutions didn't work for you, you can consider using Wondershare dr.fone, a complete program dedicated to the management of iOS and Android devices directly from a computer. It allows, among other things, to unlock and restore the iPhone, overwriting a new version of iOS to the one currently installed.

Wondershare dr.fone is a commercial program, however the possibility of unlock a disabled iPhone is included among the features available in the free trial version of the same. The software is compatible with both Windows that with MacOS and requires the presence of iTunes on the computer (or a version of macOS equal to or later than Catalina): however, Wondershare dr.fone does not provide for the "direct" use of iTunes, therefore it can act effectively even if the latter program fails .

All clear? OK, let's proceed. To begin with, connected to the main dr.fone page, click on the button Free download and wait for the program setup file to be completely downloaded to your computer.

Once the download is complete, run the file obtained and, if you use Windows, click on the buttons YesInstall Start Now, to proceed with the installation of the program and, at the end of the same, to start it. If, on the other hand, you use MacOS, drag the icon of dr.fone in the folder Applications of the Mac, access it and double-click on the icon of the program you just added. Finally, click on the button apri, to overcome the security restrictions imposed by macOS (you only need to do this the first time you run the program).

From now on, the procedures for Windows and macOS are the same: after starting the software, click on the button Unlock attached to the main window of the same, wait for the download of the appropriate form on the PC and, at the end, select the item Unlock iOS Screen from the window proposed later.

After this step too, you have to set the iPhone in recovery mode in recovery mode, as explained in one of the previous chapters of the tutorial.

If everything went well, dr.fone should be able to automatically recognize the iPhone and offer you a summary window of its characteristics: make sure that in the field Device model the iPhone model you just connected is specified, choose the latest version of iOS using the drop-down menu System version and, when you are ready, click on the button Start to start overwriting and installing the new version of iOS. Always be aware that this operation involves the complete loss of data in the iPhone memory.

Once the restoration is complete, you should see the initial screen of the iPhone, through which it is possible to carry out the initial configuration of the "iPhone by" again.

    In case of problems

Wait, are you telling me that you have followed the steps I have given you in the course of this tutorial to the letter, but that you have not been able to get the disabled iPhone working again? If this is your case, you should contact theApple support, in order to receive specific support on the problem you encountered.

Before doing so, however, I advise you to check whether the device in your possession has the Apple warranty or not, in order to avoid any unwanted charges or misunderstandings with the support team.

To carry out this verification, take note of theIMEI or the serial number iPhone, which you can retrieve from the label pasted to his sales package. If you no longer have it, you can still go back to it from the Apple ID management page: after connecting to the website in question, log in using the account connected to the device, locate the box devices and click on name iPhone in question. The serial number and IMEI of the device are indicated in the box that appears on the screen.

Alternatively, you can retrieve the IMEI code directly from the iPhone in question: su iPhone 6s and later, it is printed on the trolley that contains the SIM; up iPhone 6 and earlier, is located on the back of the device, at the bottom. Alternatively, you can also access it from the summary screen of iTunes or the Finder (on Catalina and later).

After obtaining the necessary information, connect to the web page dedicated to Apple warranty coverage and enter, in the appropriate text field, the serial number or l 'IMEI of the phone in your possession. Then, enter the characters displayed in the text field below, in order to pass the captcha check, and click on the button Continue.

After a few seconds, you should see the result of the verification, from which you can easily understand if you are entitled to receive telephone support and / or have coverage of repairs and assistance for hardware repairs caused by non-accidental damage.

After this check, depending on your needs, you can choose to contact Apple support in different ways.

    • Via telephone, dialing the number +800 915 904 XNUMX from smartphone or landline phone. The service is active from 08:00 to 19:45, from Monday to Friday, and is free for those who have coverage for telephone technical support. Otherwise, you can purchase a technical intervention at the price of 29 €.
    • Through chat, available on the Apple support page. After logging in with the Apple ID associated with the "iPhone by", click on his name, then on the icon Update, backup and restore and then select the item The topic is not listed, located at the bottom of the page. Next, type in the words iPhone disabled inside the text box that appears on the screen and press the key Submit keyboard. At this point, you should see a screen containing the available contact options: after clicking on the icon for the Chat, enter the serial number or l 'IMEI of the terminal of your interest, within the text field provided. If your warranty covers technical support, you will receive assistance, within a maximum of two minutes, from a real-life Apple operator.

If you have any doubts or need further clarification, take a look at my tutorial on how to contact Apple, in which I have indicated in a very precise way the contact methods made available by the Cupertino giant.

If even technical assistance fails to solve your problem, I invite you to go to a Apple Store or in one Apple Authorized Service Center, taking the phone with you and explaining the problem you encountered to the employee, providing as much detail as possible. Depending on the problem and any active guarantee, he will be able to indicate the most suitable solution for your case and any costs to be incurred to put it into practice.
